The three conferences – 1996, 2003 and 2012
Crosbhealach an Cheoil / the Crossroads conference, Dublin, 1996, was the first ever conference within Irish traditional music. With the theme of ‘tradition and change’ it was seen as the first of three, the second to be about ‘traditional music in eduction’, and a third on a more aesthetic theme, ‘music for listening’. The second event took place in 2003 at University of Ulster under the Crosbhealach an Cheoil 2 title, and its papers were published in 2013. But the third was done under the auspices of NAFCo 2012, the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention, 2012 which was held in Derry City in 2012, and its papers published as Ón gCos go Cluas—From dancing to Listening in 2019. Now with the publication of the full papers from Crosbhealach 1, there is available the complete set of a very wide span of ideas in Traditional music revival, a wonderful information tool-kit for anyone studying or teaching Irish music or Irish Studies. They can be bought separately, but here they are offered as a set at a reduced price.
